Let's learn about the types of fractions today. Fraction is a rational number that has a numerator and a denominator. There are three different types of fractions: proper fraction, improper fraction and mixed fraction.
Proper fraction is that where numerator is smaller than the denominator. Improper fraction is that where denominator is greater than the numerator. On the other hand mixed fractions, also known as mixed numbers are where a fraction and a whole number is mixed.
Example of proper fraction: 2/3
Example of improper fraction: 3/2
Example of mixed fraction: 1 2/3
